Congratulations on the birth of your baby!

We are here to provide guidance and support right at the start of a family’s journey. Our new parent and baby coffee mornings – a gentle introduction to PSDS and the services we offer – are a great opportunity to meet other new families in a small welcoming group. Members of our team come along to share helpful tips and we signpost other useful organisations to get in touch with too. Being a parent-led charity, we have first-hand experience and personal insights that can really help, especially during the early days.

Pre-school groups

Enjoyed by children and parents alike, our “Digbies” early development groups are the stepping stones towards getting our children with Down syndrome ready for school (we help parents prepare for that milestone too!).

Speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, early teaching, learning through play and sing and sign are core elements of Digbies. But opportunities for children to play and socialise together and for parents to share their experiences with each other are equally valuable too.

Families who are members of PSDS are invited to join Digbies when their child is 18 months old, right up to starting school. We are currently running three age-specific groups which operate weekly during term-time.

Family get-togethers and social events

At specific times through the year we organise coffee mornings, play sessions and social events including our Summer and Christmas parties. These get-togethers are enjoyed by families across our membership and new families are always given a very warm welcome.
